McKees Rocks Volunteer Fire Department Station 189 proudly protects 6500 people living in an area of 1.2 square miles. We operate out of one station that protects a commercial and residential area. Our department is a public department whose members are on a volunteer status. Our department currently operates six pieces of equipment (two pumpers, one squad, one rescue, one ladder, and one rescue boat). Also the department currently has 24 active volunteer members with some members trained as Firefighter Level 1, Vehicle Rescue, Water Rescue, Marine Firefighting, Structual Firefighting, Confined Space Rescue, High Angle Rescue, High Rise Firefighting, Hazardous Materials, Trench Rescue, Air Craft Rescue Firefighting and Foam Firefighting to name a few.


Looking for Firefighters

If you are looking for a challenge and willing to give back to the community, then the volunteer fire department is for you. We are currently accepting applications for volunteer firefighters. If interested, you can stop by any Thursday at 7:00PM to fill out an application. Requirements: Must live within 5 air miles of the station, must be at least 18 years of age, must be in good physical condition, and willing to attend mandatory training sessions. Fire department to pay for mandatory physical. Must pass background check.
